Emulsified explosives are a type of water in oil emulsion explosive that utilizes the action of emulsifiers to uniformly disperse droplets of an oxidant salt aqueous solution in an oil phase continuous medium containing dispersed bubbles or hollow glass microspheres and other porous materials. Mainly used in environments such as medium hard rock blasting, mining, and smooth, small diameter, low blasting velocity blasting. At present, emulsion explosives have been widely used in various civil blasting operations, and have advantages in blasting situations with water and humidity.
Overview of emulsion explosive production process
Emulsion explosives are mainly prepared from water and oil phases. The production of emulsion explosives consists of two parts: pharmaceutical charge and packaging. After the preparation of water and oil phases, they are pumped to the water phase storage tank and oil phase storage tank in the emulsion explosive production workshop. Insulation measures are taken to maintain the temperature of both phases to meet the production process requirements. During production, the water and oil phases are transported through a metering and conveying system to a pre emulsion tank. They are then pumped to a static mixer for mixing before being sent to a storage bin. From the storage bin, they are continuously pumped to the mixer, where the chemicals are mixed with the matrix. After mixing, they are directly fed into a rotary charging machine for charging. Once the charging is completed, the pellets are transported to a cooling water tank for explosive cooling. Finally, the pellets are packaged and the finished explosives are transported to a finished product transfer warehouse via a belt conveyor for the establishment, production, and acceptance of a chemical emulsion explosive production line. In August 2012, Weite Electromechanical Equipment Automation Engineering Co., Ltd. and a chemical (Ningguo) branch jointly developed and produced a production line with an annual output of 200000 tons of emulsion explosives. The project was approved by the Xuancheng Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology and the Anhui Provincial Office of National Defense Science and Technology, and was appraised by an expert group in October 2014.
In March 2018, the project of an annual production line of 200000 tons of emulsion explosives developed and produced by Weite Electromechanical Equipment Automation Engineering Co., Ltd. and a certain chemical technology group Co., Ltd. was approved by the Henan Provincial Defense Science and Technology Office. And passed the expert group’s acceptance and appraisal in September 2018.
